February’s Walk with a Doc had two highlights: First, it was indoors at the Boston Sports Institute. Second, it was held on National Wear Red Day to raise awareness for women’s heart health! Before our walk, we discussed THREE things everyone can do to improve their heart health: (1) Calculate your PREVENT score, (2) Know your numbers! Strive for normal Blood Pressure (120/80), keep your A1C below 5.6 and maintain a healthy cholesterol level (ask your doctor what that number is for you), and (3) Get at least 150 minutes of minutes of moderate-intensity (e.g., brisk walking) or 75–150 minutes of vigorous-intensity (e.g., running) physical activity per week.
